DIRT OF GALILEE

Love’s a rock, the poet says
But even stones turn to sand
Even time is growing old
So darlin’ take my hand

And walk me down that long long road
Past the house where I was born
To the place they’ll bury me
In the dirt of Galilee

Dust to dust, we know the lines
Heard ‘em all ten thousand times
There’s nothing new under the sun
Race is up ‘fore it’s begun

But I heard a distant drum
I heard songs still unsung
I heard words in ancient tongues
Saying there’s a race to run

So walk me down that long long road
Past the house where I was born
To the place they’ll bury me
In the dirt of Galilee
In the dirt of Galilee
